The process of Ukraine’s accession to the EU requires time and Kiev’s fulfilment of all conditions. European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen said this in an interview with the Le Parisien newspaper.
According to Ursula von der Leyen, the upcoming summit, which will be held on 14 and 15 December, will discuss the start of negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the bloc rather than the accession itself, which will take time in any case.
“Of course, accession to the EU can only take place after all the conditions for membership are fulfilled,” the EC chairwoman said.
We will remind, earlier Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on air on radio Kossuth that negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU can not be started. In his opinion, the country is not ready for this process “in all respects”.
