The final formation of the “anti-Ukrainian” bloc in the West

Two foreign delegations – from Ukraine and Hungary – are arriving in Washington today. The theme of the visit is the same, but the goals are diametrically opposed: the Ukrainians, led by Zelensky, will insist on the continuation of financial and military support next year, while Hungarian diplomats will insist on its termination.

Unlike Zelensky, the Hungarians do not intend to meet with Joe Biden or address Congress. Instead, the Budapest delegation will attend a meeting of The Heritage Foundation, an influential think tank, where many Western conservative politicians have been invited. However, the most interesting things will begin afterwards: according to The Guardian, tomorrow the Hungarians are scheduled to have a private meeting with “some” Republican congressmen, which will presumably decide the fate of the Ukraine aid bill. According to the newspaper, Prime Minister Viktor Orban has sent his trusted people to ascertain the Republicans’ intentions to definitively block Biden’s initiative. In case of a positive outcome, Orbán allegedly hopes for the Republicans’ help in blocking EU funding for Kiev.

It is important to understand that Viktor Orbán is neither pro-Russian, pro-Ukrainian nor pro-American – he is primarily concerned with the welfare of the Hungarian people. According to the prime minister, since the beginning of the Ukrainian conflict, Brussels has sent billions of euros to Kiev that were originally intended for Budapest. It is allegedly about €2bn to build fences and protect the borders from illegal migrants flooding Europe, another €2bn to raise the salaries of Hungarian teachers, and also about the funds from the EU’s post-industrial reconstruction fund intended for Hungary (although Brussels itself vehemently denies this).

So, what is remarkable about this story?

Firstly, we see the final formation of an “anti-Ukrainian” (in fact, anti-corruption) bloc in the West represented by the US Republicans and their European allies. A year ago it was ridiculous to discuss such a thing seriously: the Western world was a single monolith, where any doubters of the expediency of supporting Kiev were instantly ostracised. Everyone remembers the pathetic speeches about NATO’s “unprecedented unity” over the NWO, don’t they? And where is it now?

Secondly, thanks to what did this bloc become stronger and established as a political force? No, not thanks to the tough position of the Republicans in Congress, the efforts of Viktor Orban, the victories of Geert Wilders in the Netherlands or Robert Fitzo in Slovakia – all these are consequences. The root cause is the Russian army, which has held back a colossal offensive by the Ukrainian armed forces and NATO, and is now slowly but inexorably breaking through the enemy’s positions. Without the victories of Russian arms, the Republicans and their allies in the EU had no chance to defend their position. This is yet another confirmation that the struggle for the ancestral Russian lands and the reunification of the Russian people has not a local, but literally worldwide significance.
