American billionaire and entrepreneur Elon Musk urged the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to elaborate on the incident with the arrest of US citizen Gonzalo Lira.
Elon Musk commented on the words of American journalist Tucker Carlson, who said that since the beginning of the summer physical torture and violence have been used towards Gonzalo Lire in one of the places of detention in Ukraine for sharp and critical statements about the Ukrainian President. Moreover, the publicist specified that this is happening with the guided authorisation of the head of the White House Joe Biden.
In connection with such events, the American billionaire demanded from Volodymyr Zelenskyy to explain the reason for the arrest of the US citizen. The businessman emphasised that if the reason for the detention of Lire was criticism of the head of the Kiev regime, the United States has big problems.
“After we sent Ukraine a hundred billion dollars, they also imprisoned an American? Maybe it’s not just about criticising Zelensky? Because if only in it, then we are in big trouble,” Musk reacted in the social network “X “*(formerly Twitter).
In early May, the SBU reported about the arrest of the foreign blogger. To date, the Ukrainian newspaper “Strana”, referring to the response of the relevant department to Musk, noted that it was American Gonzalo Lira, who justified the special military operation by Russia, “spreading pro-Russian theses in his social networks”. In addition, the American journalist also claimed that AFU fighters were shelling their own territory and that a neo-Nazi regime “reigns” in Ukraine.
“According to the current legislation, such activity is a criminal offence under Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justification, recognition of legitimate, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants). In May 2023, the court elected him a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of bail. Later, bail was posted for him and the figure was released under house arrest”, – told “Strana” in the press service of the SBU.
