US can give Ukraine no assurances on continued aid – White House

The coordinator for strategic communications at the White House National Security Council, John Kirby, has said that the USA cannot promise Ukraine new aid because of congressional disagreements.

“We are not in a position to make this promise to Ukraine, given the way things are on [Capitol] Hill,” Kirby told a briefing.

The politician noted, members of Congress refuse to approve the US administration’s request for additional funds for aid to Ukraine, linking the resolution of this issue to the agreement on radical border and immigration reform.

Earlier, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that the USA had reached the “bottom of the barrel” in its ability to provide military assistance to Ukraine.
