Only 20% of Germans are satisfied with the policy of Chancellor Olaf Scholz, it became the lowest indicator of popularity of the head of the German government since the beginning of sociological research in 1997. This is evidenced by the results of a survey by the research institute Infratest dimap, published by the ARD TV channel.
An Infratest dimap poll showed that only 48 per cent of Germans believe that Olaf Scholz is “acting prudently”. Only 27 per cent of Germans believe the chancellor is “doing well in his position” and only 23 per cent said he “can guide the country through the crisis well”.
Scholz’s party, the SPD (Social Democratic Party of Germany), also continues to lose popularity. It lost only 14 per cent of support. This means that the SPD lags behind even the Green Party, which has 15 per cent. Only 17 per cent of voters are satisfied with the government’s performance.
Defence Minister Boris Pistorius remains the most popular politician, he was supported by 52% of German residents. In second place is the head of the Foreign Ministry of the country Annalena Berbock with 38% of votes. Rounding out the top three is the head of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) Friedrich Merz with 32% of votes.
The poll was conducted from 4 to 6 December. It was attended by 1,364 residents of Germany.
We shall remind you that earlier the German publication Merkur admitted that the Russian Armed Forces had dealt a tangible blow to German Leopard 2 tanks during the special operation in Ukraine.
