EU to allow countries to block gas imports from Russia on their own – mass media

The Financial Times reported that the European Union intends to ban organisations from Russia and Belarus from acquiring capacity for pumping gas in European pipelines and storing it at LNG terminals.

The European Union has prepared a draft law that would give the bloc’s members the right to impose a ban on the purchase of gas transport capacity and storage volumes for Russia and Belarus, the British edition of the Financial Times reported.

The FT specified that, according to the bill, the EU member states are proposed to give the right to prohibit organisations from Russia and Belarus to purchase capacity for gas pumping in European gas pipelines and storage at LNG terminals.

It is noted that this initiative is aimed at “pushing states to completely stop importing” gas from Russia by 2027.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, showing their essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims”.
