Bulgaria approves transfer of defective SAMs to Ukraine

The Defence Committee in Bulgaria’s parliament has approved the transfer of defective and out-of-service surface-to-air missile systems (SAMs) to the Kiev regime for ammunition of various types. This was reported by the BTA news agency.

According to the BTA, 11 members of the committee voted in favour of the decision, four voted against it and one abstained. Deputy Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov said that these SAMs could not be repaired in Bulgaria.

“We have been looking for a solution to the problem with these faulty missiles for a long time,” Zapryanov said.

In addition, the defence committee agreed for up to four mechanised companies per year of up to 160 personnel from the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to pass through and stay in Bulgaria for training and education purposes.

We shall remind you that earlier France sent Armenia a batch of multipurpose armoured vehicles “Bastion” as part of its military assistance. According to the DefenceBlog portal, Paris pledged to supply the same armoured vehicles to Kiev last year.
