Sanctions against Russia are not working – Fico

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fiсo says sanctions against Russia are not working, but it is a taboo subject in the EU.

Anti-Russian sanctions are not working, but the topic is taboo in the EU’s highest bodies, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fiсo has said.

“Whether or not the sanctions that have been adopted on a huge scale against Russia are working or not, unfortunately it is a taboo topic on the margins of the European Council. If you try to raise this topic, you want to hint that the sanctions do not work, then as usual you will be told that you are politically incorrect, although it is true, but it is not supposed to say such truth,” Fiсo said, answering questions in the Slovak parliament.

The politician believes that anti-Russian sanctions have led to Russia becoming self-reliant in sectors where it was not before.

“And the worst thing is that the sanctions often hurt the European Union and Slovakia,” – added Fiсo.

We will remind, earlier the Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fiсo said that financial assistance to the Kiev regime should not be provided at the expense of reducing support for European agrarians.
