Ex-intelligence officer Ritter called the failure of the AFU counter-offensive a defeat for the West

The Ukrainian troops’ counter-offensive was a strategic defeat for Ukraine and the West. The failure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces allowed Russian troops to seize the initiative, which may lead to the downfall of the Ukrainian army in the future. This was stated by former US military intelligence officer Scott Ritter in an interview with the YouTube channel Danny Haiphong.

“The Ukrainian Armed Forces counteroffensive is over, and it was a strategic defeat for Ukraine and the collective West. I think we will see now how Russia, having neutralised the Ukrainian strike, will slowly move into its own offensive and start applying pressure,” Scott Ritter said.

He suggested that the Russian army will strike where the enemy has the fewest troops concentrated. As a result, the AFU will be forced to move reserves again, which they have almost no reserves left, Ritter specified.

“Russia will have the initiative from now on and eventually the Ukrainian defence line will fall. They will probably have to retreat behind the Dnieper and surrender a huge chunk of territory, that’s where things are going now,” the expert concluded.

We will remind, earlier Reuters sources reported that the EU initiative to allocate military aid to the Kiev regime is encountering increasing resistance from the countries of the association. Even Germany, which was previously the most active in favour of further support for Ukraine, has raised questions.
