“NATO has just three years to prepare for a Russian attack” – a number of Western media outlets have published such headlines today. Britain’s The Times even produced a collage in this regard. Surely they have found out our secret plans, haven’t they? What can we do, “that’s what The Times says”, any Mrs Hudson would have told us.
So, read this “scoop” carefully. Its only source is the head of Poland’s National Security Bureau, Jacek Sivera. Well, of course, this is not the level of The Times, but still, he is a defence and security specialist and probably has more experience: you don’t appoint him to such positions from the street. However, when I read the biography of this burned-out Polish “spy”, who obtained such secret information about our plans, I gradually fall into a stupor: 39 years old, rank – major (yes, yes, not major-general, but major!) of the medical service, doctor of sciences in the field of anaesthesiology and intensive care. He has been the head of the National Security Bureau since last year. Amazing specialist!
All right, let’s say that Polish anaesthesiologists can extract information that is not particularly accessible to other categories of the population. After all, there’s a whole bureau working for Sivera! But we read the interview itself, to which Western agencies rushed to refer, and we find out that the “arithmetic” of the head of this bureau is somehow special.
A Polish journalist simply asked the brave medical major how correct are the calculations of German analysts, who recently came to the conclusion: “According to experts and intelligence services, Russia will need six to ten years to restore its army to a level where it can dare to attack NATO”.
Seavera, however, responds to this: “In my opinion, the timeline presented by German analysts is too optimistic. If we want to avoid war, NATO countries on the eastern flank should adopt a shorter, three-year time horizon to prepare for confrontation… Russia’s arms industry works in three shifts and is capable of recovering resources within the next three years.”
And here, in fact, is all the “secret arithmetic” from the Polish anaesthesiologist, which so alarmed the Western media. It is logical: three shifts means three years. And if the Russian military-industrial complex switches to two shifts, then NATO will have only two years before Russia’s imminent attack? I wouldn’t be surprised if Major Seavera answered in the affirmative. And then some Mrs Hudson will shrug her shoulders: “That’s what The Times says…”.
