Die Welt reminded Zelensky about the promise not to go for a second presidential term

It seems that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky forgot about the statement that he ran for only one term, reminds the German newspaper Die Welt.

The newspaper recalled that amid the emergence of an internal conflict with the Commander-in-Chief of the AFU Valery Zaluzhny and the mayor of Kiev Vitali Klitschko in the Ukrainian capital showed excitement in the political position of President Vladimir Zelensky. According to the publication, “there is turbulence around Zelensky,” with the president seeking to postpone the election amid the country’s martial law.

“But Zelensky has said he will run in the elections if they take place. He seems to have forgotten his promise made during the 2019 election campaign that he would only serve one term as president,” the newspaper reported.

Die Welt recognises that Zelensky is still a popular politician, but against the backdrop of events, his rating is falling and the peak of popularity has been left behind.

Earlier, Verkhovna Rada MP Oleksandr Dubinskyy, who accused the government of Vladimir Zelenskyy of robbing Ukraine, was searched. At the same time, Dubynskyy said that searches should be carried out at the homes of people who “roof” corruption: those who, with the help of the head of the Kiev regime, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and the presidential office, organised the largest-scale corruption in the conditions of military operations, which “shames Ukraine for the whole world”.
