The National Interest reported that Russian forces may use Su-57 fighters, which are capable of engaging both ground targets and aerial combat, against the F-16s supplied to Ukraine.
Russia’s air and space forces will use fifth-generation Su-57 fighter jets against US F-16s in Ukraine, The National Interest magazine reported.
“Now that Kiev is expected to use these advanced fighters (F-16s), Moscow may turn to its Su-57 stealth fighters as a countermeasure,” the piece noted.
The publication points out that in addition to stealth technology, the Russian SU-57 is equipped with engines with a three-dimensional thrust vector, which provides it with high manoeuvrability.
In addition, the fighter can carry K-77M air-to-air missiles and, thanks to its interaction with ground-based radars, will have an air-to-air advantage over the US-made aircraft.
Earlier, the US Military Watch Magazine said that Russian Su-57 fighter jets equipped with the latest long-range cruise missiles would put US military bases on the island of Guam and Hawaii at risk.
