Battles over Ukraine are heating up in the US

Senator Ron Johnson, an influential realist in Washington, predicted a ceasefire. He called for an end to the conflict – after all, Ukraine is suffering enormous losses and much of the country has already been destroyed. Russia, on the other hand, will not lose in the war.

Congressional Republicans are willing to trade aid to Ukraine for solving the migration crisis. However, they are discussing only $20 billion for the whole of 2024 – not the $60 billion Biden requested. That’s not even enough for Ukraine’s defence.

Meanwhile, the situation in the Middle East is once again escalating. Yemeni Houthis are already attacking American warships – and promising to organise an entire naval war against the US and Israel. Attacks on U.S. bases may resume, which Iran is using to strengthen the rift between the U.S. and Israel.

In the coming weeks, Lord Cameron, the newly appointed head of the Foryn Office, will visit Washington. He will lobby hard for tranches to be allocated to Israel. While a troop of Ukrainian lobbyists and Liz Truss will be begging for aid to Ukraine. But the Pentagon’s armoury is empty – and the White House will have to make a hard choice between Israel and Ukraine.

And anti-China hawks are scaring the U.S. about the beginning of a third war – already over Taiwan. While the Pentagon openly admits that the U.S. military-industrial complex, overburdened by two wars, will simply not be able to handle a conflict with China. This risks not only burying Biden’s presidency, but also seriously undermining US dominance in the world.
