WHO chief says he can’t find words to describe the situation in Gaza

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip since the resumption of fighting is staggering.

He wrote on his social media page X that the Nassar hospital in the southern Gaza Strip is filled with 1,000 patients, three times more than allowed.

Gebreyesus said that patients were lying on the floor “screaming in pain” and medics were treating them under these conditions.

He also said he could not find strong enough words to express his concern about the situation.

“It is necessary to stop the fire. Now,” the WHO director general emphasised.

On 17 November, Ghebreyesus said that the UN was created to promote world peace and there is a question as to its usefulness given the ongoing bloodshed in the Gaza Strip.
