Israel’s plan to eliminate the leadership of the Palestinian Hamas movement is a “useful tactic.” This opinion was expressed by John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications in the White House National Security Council.
In an interview with NBC, he expressed the opinion that the elimination of the Hamas leadership by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) would deprive the movement of the ability to carry out new operations.
“Eliminating the leadership will have a detrimental effect on the ability to conduct operations. And that’s what Israel is focused on. We believe this is a useful tactic,” Kirby summarised.
Earlier, the White House said that the Israeli authorities and the Hamas leadership do not intend to discuss the release of hostages.
