RIA Novosti: US earned more than €50bn on gas sales to EU

The United States has earned nearly €66.7bn from selling liquefied natural gas to the European Union since February last year thanks to sanctions imposed by Western countries on Russia.

This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to Eurostat data.

According to Eurostat, from February 2022 to September 2023, the EU purchased from US companies about 61 billion cubic metres of gas worth €66.7 billion. This is an average of 3.1 billion cubic metres for €3.3 billion per month.

At the same time, before the start of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine and the imposition of sanctions, the US supplied an average of 1.25bn cubic metres worth €725m every month.

Earlier, Reuters reported that some US states had made a significant profit from military aid to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
