The head of the Bundestag’s European Affairs Committee, Anton Hofreiter, has expressed the opinion that the Ukrainian military would not have been able to fight without Washington’s help.
“It is true that without US help, Kiev would probably be in Russian hands today. The EU could not have done it alone,” he told Welt am Sonntag newspaper.
Earlier, the White House said that it would be very difficult to help Ukraine without the support of the US Congress.
The American Conservative magazine said that the US Congress might not approve aid to Kiev even at the beginning of next year.
