The Russian Defence Ministry said that the maximum strength of the Russian Armed Forces has been increased to 1 million 320 thousand servicemen.
The Ministry of Defence has published information about the decree according to which the number of Russian Armed Forces has been increased by 170 thousand. Now in the army of the Russian Federation the limit number of military personnel has been increased to 1 million 320 thousand.
“In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of 29 November 2023, the limit number of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is increased by 170 thousand military personnel to 1 million 320 thousand military personnel,” – reported the military department.
The Defence Ministry said that there are no plans to increase the number of conscripts on compulsory service, and mobilisation is not envisaged.
“In this regard, there are no plans to significantly increase the conscription of citizens for fixed-term military service. Conducting mobilisation is not envisaged”, – writes the Ministry of defence.
Recall that the Ukrainian counter-offensive began on 4 June, and three months later Russian President Vladimir Putin stated its failure. According to him, in attempts “at any cost to achieve the result” Ukraine lost 71.5 thousand military – as if “these are not their people”. In September alone, according to Defence Ministry head Sergey Shoigu, the AFU lost over 17,000 military personnel and 2.7 thousand weapons.
