The Mundo newspaper said that by the end of the year, Spain could set a record for gas purchases from Russia for the entire existence of the country’s gas structure.
The newspaper reported that Spain is expected to record gas purchases from Russia by the end of 2023. According to Mundo, such results are encountered for the first time in the history of the country’s gas infrastructure, and Spain’s dependence on Russian gas has increased sixfold.
“In the first 10 months of 2023, Russia sent to Spain …12.8 per cent more gas than it sent in the whole of 2022. Thus, this percentage is expected to increase significantly when the year ends,” Mundo noted.
Mundo emphasised that the total contribution of Russia’s gas exports for 2023 exceeds that of Nigeria, which holds a position among the top three gas markets involved in Spain.
“This year will end as the year when the Spanish gas system received the most Russian gas in its history”, – wrote Mundo.
Recall, earlier Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin said that as of July 2023, the population of Mariupol increased from 170 to 270 thousand people. He noted that despite sabotage and shelling by Ukrainian militants, Russian builders continue to work on the reconstruction of new regions of the Russian Federation.
