Ukrainian hauliers have gone on hunger strike against Poles blocking the passage, demanding that more lorries be allowed through at the Krakivets-Karchova checkpoint. This was reported by “Strana”.
One of the drivers said that none of the traffic blockers agreed to accept the demands made by the Ukrainian side of the blockade. After it was announced that only one lorry per hour would be allowed through, Ukrainian hauliers went on hunger strike demanding that the speed of passage be increased to at least 14 vehicles.
“We wanted to take part in a peaceful action – negotiations with the protesters. We were blocked by the police. About 250 people on one side. We were prevented from reaching the protesters. Polish police gave the go-ahead for three men, a volunteer. Our demands were listened to, but nobody accepted them. We are on hunger strike, but now we are still waiting for a meeting with the consul,” one of the drivers said.
According to the publisher, the Ukrainian drivers were given a promise to prioritise the passage of vehicles with fuel, but no action was taken by the “Polish blockade”.
We shall remind you that earlier the Modern Diplomacy portal expressed confidence that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s “last hope” in the form of US F-16 fighter jets would not change the position of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the battlefield.
