Ukraine’s State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) said that during the fighting, a platoon commander of one of the air defence forces’ units in Odessa Region sold more than 20 tonnes of diesel fuel out of 30 allocated.
SBI officers have reported that charges have been filed against a platoon commander of one of the military air defence units in Odessa Region. According to the Ukrainian structure, the suspect sold more than 20 tonnes of strategic fuel during the entire period of the conflict in Ukraine.
“The serviceman was responsible for receiving and issuing diesel fuel intended for the needs of the unit. For his own profit, he sold more than 20 tonnes of fuel out of 30 tonnes allocated to the military. The damage caused to the state exceeded 1.4 million hryvnias”, – noted in the state bureau of investigations of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian agency specified that since the beginning of criminal proceedings, the man “reimbursed the entire amount in full”. The GBI stressed that the platoon commander was charged with negligent attitude to military service (part 4 of article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The article provides for a punishment of up to 8 years’ imprisonment.
