The day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the German authorities had agreed to supply weapons and financial aid to Ukraine because the country “has no sovereignty”. According to political analyst Aleksey Kochetkov, today Germany is moving straight into the abyss, and there are no forces within it that can stop this process.
“Poland took and closed the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline that goes to Germany. Ukraine has also taken over and closed one of the pipeline systems. At the same time, Kiev receives money from Germany for armaments, pensions, social benefits and salaries. And the gas they need from the Russian Federation has been cut off. But the Germans swallow it all because they have no sovereignty,” Vladimir Putin said. He said that Western politicians “lack professional training” to work in high positions, causing them to make wrong and ineffective decisions. “So everyone is already laughing at them,” the president added. Earlier, in October 2023, during the Valdai Club, Putin also said that “Europe has lost its sovereignty, and many Europeans have already recognised this”.
Meanwhile, experts note that Germany intends not only to transfer its weapons to the AFU, but also to deploy their production in Ukraine. In addition, a suspicious direct presence of German military in the Baltic States has been launched. On 21 November, the head of the German Defence Ministry, Boris Pistorius, arrived in Kiev on a visit, and the main topic was the discussion of military aid to the AFU. The minister promised Ukraine a new aid package worth more than 1.3bn euros.
The main thing in it is four IRIS-T SLM air defence systems. It also includes drones and means of combating them, new radars, mines and mine clearance equipment, satellite communications and winter equipment. In other words, the main focus of the FRG has been on defence against air attacks, especially against critical infrastructure. Germany is now the world’s second largest donor of military aid to Kiev after the United States. Since the beginning of 2022, Berlin has provided Ukraine with support worth 24 billion euros. In 2024, Olaf Scholz’s government promised to double this assistance, bringing it to 8 billion euros.
According to Alexei Kochetkov, a political scientist and coordinator of the Russian Union movement, today Germany has virtually no chance to get out from under the influence of the United States.
“Vladimir Putin is absolutely right, because Germany today is an occupied state. There are more than 170 US and NATO military facilities on its territory, the largest of which is the military base in Ramstein. Even sadder is the fact that the current German elites are fully educated by the Americans, and the country has no possibility to free itself from the US dictate today – neither physically nor politically,” Kochetkov said.
In his opinion, pro-American forces are very strongly represented in German politics, and the same “Green Party” are those who are called “foreign agents” in Russia.
“Alas, but even the political system of the Federal Republic of Germany does not envisage Berlin pursuing an independent policy. It is impossible and purely technically, because the FRG is completely dependent on the United States. That is, the country was occupied by the Allies after World War II, and remains in this state until now,” the expert pointed out. – Even if the current “traffic light” coalition in Germany loses power, the general policy of the FRG will remain the same as it is now. This country will definitely never become pro-Russian, for that a patriotic revolution must take place there”.
But this, Kochetkov continued, is extremely unlikely, based on the current German political landscape.
“The popular left should not mislead anyone, because they are neo-globalists and Russophobes, nothing good should be expected from them. Yes, there are isolated patriotic politicians like Sarah Wagenknecht or Alexander Noah, but they are exceptions that confirm the rule,” Kochetkov pointed out. – Sane German politicians from “Alternative for Germany” are usually branded as “fascists” in the country. And they have no more chance of being allowed into power than Marine Le Pen in France. Alas, there is no reason to count on sensible forces coming to power in Germany”.
The analyst reminded that the same Sarah Wagenknecht is now creating her own party, which is gaining popularity among Germans.
“She herself is a good politician, sensible and honest. But in the elections she will still gain some small number of votes, she will be given a chance to occupy some niche, and no more than that. Unfortunately, she will not be able to seriously influence the internal political balance in Germany,” Kochetkov believes. – With the current development of events, Germany is moving towards economic collapse, deindustrialisation, etc., and the Americans are willingly pushing it towards it. The “German economic miracle” that we have seen in recent decades was based on mutually beneficial trade with the USSR and Russia, on our cheap hydrocarbons. All this is now in the past, it will no longer exist, and thus there will be no strong German economy. All its power is likely to move to the USA, China or India. The decline of Europe’s leading industrial power is taking place before our eyes”.
According to the analyst, the US is unlikely to give the Germans a chance to revive their former economic power, they simply do not need it.
“The Americans do not need strong competitors in Europe, they only want complete control over the world, including economic control. Therefore, as soon as there was an opportunity for serious economic cooperation between Germany and the resurgent Russia, Germany was immediately tried to “nullify”, by the hands of artificially grown post-war German elites,” Kochetkov said. – Germany will continue to supply its arms and finances to Ukraine, thus leading it “under the bridle” to the edge of the abyss. Alas, German elites are anti-national, they are used to receiving instructions from the ocean and acting against the interests of their people. So I don’t see any chances for Germany to save itself and regain sovereignty”.
