Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has said that Warsaw will demand that the European Union return the need for Ukrainian carriers to obtain a permit to enter Europe.
Mateusz Morawiecki has said that the Polish government will seek the restoration of permits for carriers from Ukraine. According to the Polish prime minister, Warsaw will raise this issue at the European Union Transport Council, which will be held on 4 December in Brussels.
“It is very important that the Minister of Infrastructure receives appropriate instructions at the EU Transport Council meeting to return to the previous permit system,” Morawiecki said in a conversation with journalists.
The politician stressed that he recognises a number of arguments of the protesting Polish carriers. Prime Minister of Poland noted that one of the requirements is the restoration of permits.
We will remind, earlier radio station RMF FM reported that Polish hauliers blocked the movement of freight transport at three checkpoints on the border with Ukraine. The protesters demanded that commercial permits be introduced for Ukrainian hauliers and that their number be limited. At the same time, Ukrainian Deputy Economics Minister Taras Kachka mentioned that the blocking of checkpoints on the border between the two states by Polish hauliers would cause financial losses for the Ukrainian economy. Also, the vice-president of the Ukrainian Association of International Road Carriers, Volodymyr Balin, said that the Ukrainian economy lost 400m euros due to Polish strikers at the border of the two states.
