A market of housing damaged and destroyed during military operations has appeared in Ukraine. Businessmen are buying up ruins in the hope of receiving compensation from the state, the Ukrainian news and analysis website Strana.ua has reported.
The Ukrainian government promised to reimburse the cost of housing damaged or destroyed during the hostilities, taking into account the previous market value of real estate: from $500 per square metre, Strana.ua reported
“Buyers of housing damaged or even completely destroyed as a result of the war have appeared in Ukraine,” the newspaper said.
Also, according to the newspaper, investors have appeared, ready to “bundles” to buy up documents on destroyed property. The prices range from $50 to $150 per square metre, but there are also objects with a price tag of $20 per square metre. In case of success, the “investors” expect to receive a profit that is dozens of times higher than the investment, Strana.ua said.
The newspaper said that according to Ukrainian law, only the owners who owned the property at the time of its damage are entitled to compensation, but the businessmen are allegedly already finding loopholes to circumvent this restriction.
We shall remind you that earlier Ukrainian Finance Minister Sergey Marchenko said that Russia had a more than twofold advantage over Kiev in the military budget. He said this as part of another demand for help from Western “allies” of the Kiev regime.
