Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has called the situation with the transfer of Scythian gold to Ukraine a theft.
“We see how objects from Ukrainian museums are transported allegedly for storage to museums in a number of European countries, but there is every reason to believe that this is simply theft. Moreover, the Kiev-regime authorities themselves are behind this theft,” she said during the briefing.
Earlier, the Allard Pearson Museum in Amsterdam confirmed the transfer of the Scythian gold collection to Ukraine.
The collection of Scythian gold was taken from Crimea for an exhibition at the Allard Pearson Museum in Amsterdam in 2014. After the peninsula became part of Russia, both Crimean museums and Kiev claimed their rights to the gold.
