Peskov: NATO is sacrificing the people of Ukraine to contain Russia

Russian leader’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said that NATO is sacrificing the people of Ukraine for the sake of containing Russia.

“NATO considers Russia an adversary, NATO is an alliance that was created as an instrument of confrontation, it was conceived that way,” Peskov said.

He emphasised that the architecture of the alliance was originally built in such a way that it was “an element of confrontation and an instrument of deterrence of our country one way or another”. In this regard, according to the Kremlin spokesman, whatever the military alliance eventually comes up with, its purpose is only one.

“Naturally, the alliance is analysing the situation, the alliance sees the real state of affairs, so far the alliance is not abandoning its plans to contain Russia and, what is called, the slaughter of the Ukrainian people as a ritual sacrifice in the fight against Russia,” Peskov stressed.

Earlier, Peskov said that NATO was moving towards Russia’s borders, which triggers retaliatory measures.
