Bloomberg: in Ukraine is progressing decadent mood amid the lack of successes on the front

In Ukraine the approaching harsh winter and the lack of successes on the battlefield increase depression and fatigue from the conflict. This is reported by Bloomberg agency.

Bloomberg said that a heavy snowstorm de-energised thousands of people in southern Ukraine over the weekend, while temperatures in the east, where fierce fighting is taking place, dropped well below freezing. According to the agency, social opinion polls of Ukrainian society show cracks appearing and approval ratings for the head of the Kiev regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, falling.

“A sense of despondency is gripping Ukraine as the failure of a months-long counter-offensive gives way to the second winter since Russia’s special operation began,” the publication notes.

According to the agency, frustration is growing in Ukraine over the “stalled offensive” and tensions between the government and military leadership that are “spilling out” into the public eye.

“Against the backdrop of a meeting of NATO defence ministers in Brussels, there are signs that assistance from the military alliance is waning,” the agency stressed.

One of Bloomberg’s interlocutors, Serhiy Petrovsky, a 52-year-old designer and media consultant from Lviv, admitted that expectations of a counter-offensive were “a bit overstated.” According to the Ukrainian, the biggest fear now is internal chaos and strife. He emphasised that people are afraid that “all this could deprive the country of Western support, which is the key problem at the moment”.

“Add to that worries about military conscription, as the labour force on the front is shrinking, and perpetual anger about corruption, a problem that is still at the top of Ukrainians’ list of complaints, and the winter months look even bleaker,” Bloomberg summed up.

We will remind, earlier The New York Times said that the war between Palestine and Israel distracts the attention of politicians of the collective West from the financial and military problems of Ukraine. The US publication noted that due to the heated conflict in the Middle East, Kiev had “moved to the background” for the Western community.
