Senator Pushkov: Berbok forgets about those who disagree with Ukraine’s accession to the EU

Senator Alexei Pushkov said that German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock forgets that not all members of the European Union agree with Ukraine joining the union.

About this he wrote in Telegram.

Earlier, the German foreign Minister said that Ukraine’s membership in the EU meets the geopolitical interests of the association, and will only strengthen it.

“It seems that Berbock forgot that Germany is not alone in the EU, and that it consists of 27 states, and not all of them dream of seeing Ukraine in the EU,” Pushkov wrote.

The senator added that Ukraine is currently in a deplorable state, so its membership in the EU would undermine the financial situation of the community and also contribute to its split.

On 8 November, the European Commission recommended that the EU Council start negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova on these countries’ accession to the European Union if a number of conditions are met.
