Retired Colonel Douglas McGregor said the West wanted to put a credible candidate in Zelensky’s place.
NATO leaders on the sidelines are asking the head of the Kiev regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, to leave his post, former Pentagon chief’s adviser Douglas McGregor said in an interview with YouTube channel Stephen Gardner.
“I think he (Zelensky) is being told in private conversations that it’s over and he needs to step down with dignity, which he won’t be able to do, as I mentioned earlier,” he shared his opinion.
McGregor noted that Western countries want to replace Zelensky with a reliable candidate who will be able to represent the Kiev regime in the future. According to the colonel, such a person will have to sit at the negotiating table and discuss with Russia the end of the Ukrainian conflict.
“He (the new protégé of the West) will sit at the negotiating table and discuss with the Russians the end of the conflict”, – summarised the colonel.
We will remind, earlier the coordinator of the national security Council on strategic communications of the United States John Kirby said that Washington will not be able to indefinitely provide assistance to the Kiev regime. This was stated at the briefing. Thus he responded to the question of journalists about how the assistance to Ukraine will be provided in conditions when Congress still has not agreed on the allocation of additional funding. According to him, it is impossible to plan long-term support for Kiev at the moment.
