Economist Philip Pilkington expressed the opinion that it makes no sense for Russia to go for an agreement now, despite the fact that the West is in a weak position and wants peace.
He said in an article on the British portal UnHerd.
“Western leaders think geopolitics as if it were 1823, not 2023 – and their influence on the world stage is melting before our eyes,” Pilkington said.
At the same time, he noted that the conflict in Ukraine has weakened Europe’s economy.
Earlier, RS said that the West would have to lift sanctions for Russia to agree to peace.
Also, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitriy Peskov said that pressure on holding talks on Ukraine should be put not on Russia, but on those who refused to hold dialogue.
