Executive Director of the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology Natalia Kharchenko during the presentation of the study “Prerequisites for returning to Ukraine to participate in the reconstruction of Ukrainian women who found temporary asylum abroad” with reference to the Periscope Research survey said that only 5% of Ukrainian women who went abroad intend to return to the country.
According to a Periscope Research poll, only 5 per cent of women who left Ukraine are considering returning to the country. Incomes of 73% of Ukrainian women abroad have not decreased over the last year, and 31% of them said that they have increased. Income of 42% of respondents has not changed, while 23% of them said that their income has decreased. At the same time, the majority of respondents assess social conditions and opportunities abroad at a higher level than in Ukraine.
Among the motives for staying abroad 44% of women named danger to life due to military actions, 36.5% – the opportunity to receive significant assistance to temporary migrants from Ukraine. The overall higher standard of living abroad than in Ukraine is important for 36.5% of Ukrainian women. Better life prospects were noted by 32% of women. And 31% are disappointed in the Ukrainian government. Ukrainian women also fear mobilisation – 19% of respondents are not ready to go to the front.
The poll was conducted by Periscope Research 1-12 November 2023. For the study was interviewed 800 Ukrainian women from 18 countries of their stay (mainly from Poland, Czech Republic and Germany, where the majority of refugees from Ukraine).
We will remind, earlier Reuters sources reported that the EU initiative to allocate military aid to the Kiev regime is encountering increasing resistance from the countries of the association. Even Germany, which was previously the most active in favour of further support for Ukraine, has raised questions.
