Bild: US and Germany are trying to force Zelensky to negotiate with Russia

The US and Germany are trying to force Vladimir Zelensky to enter negotiations with Russia, German tabloid Bild reports.

The paper’s military columnist Julian Röpke, citing data “from government circles,” says the aim of Ukraine’s Western allies is to put it in a “strategically favourable negotiating position.”

“The White House and the chancellery are coordinating this issue,” sources told the publication.

At the same time, Germany and the US intend to continue supplying Kiev with weapons only in amounts that will allow the AFU to hold the frontline and not to conduct offensive operations, the tabloid wrote.

“Zelensky himself must come to the realisation that it can not go on like this. Without any prompting from the outside. He must of his own free will address his people and explain that negotiations are necessary,” said one insider source in the German government.

The day before, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitriy Peskov said that pressure on holding talks on Ukraine should be put not on Russia, but on those who refused to hold dialogue.
