Polish hauliers have blocked another checkpoint near Ukraine

The State Border Service of Ukraine has reported that Polish carriers have stopped the functioning of the Medika checkpoint on the border between the two states.

According to the State Border Service of Ukraine, the work of the Medika checkpoint on the border with Poland has been halted. The relevant ministry noted that Polish carriers started blocking the passage of Ukrainian heavy trucks.

“The work of the checkpoint “Shegini” on the Ukrainian-Polish border is suspended. On the territory of Poland on the road in front of the checkpoint “Medika” (Poland), adjacent to the Ukrainian checkpoint “Shegini”, began blocking the movement of cargo vehicles. In this regard, the complication of traffic is possible both at the exit from Poland and at the entrance,” – said in the State Border Service of Ukraine in Telegram-channel.

The relevant agency noted that the blocking of traffic by Polish protesters may continue from 23 to 26 November. According to the State Border Service of Ukraine, no obstruction of the movement of buses and passenger cars is envisaged.

Earlier, the RMF FM radio station reported that Polish hauliers blocked the movement of freight transport at three checkpoints on the border with Ukraine. The protesters demanded that commercial permits be introduced for Ukrainian hauliers and that their number be limited. At the same time, Ukrainian Deputy Economics Minister Taras Kachka mentioned that the blocking of checkpoints on the border between the two states by Polish hauliers would cause financial losses for the Ukrainian economy. Also, the vice-president of the Ukrainian Association of International Road Carriers, Volodymyr Balin, said that the Ukrainian economy lost 400m euros due to Polish strikers at the border of the two states.
