Economist Alelsey Kushch has said that the possible transition of the Ukrainian economy to “military rails” will contribute to its destruction within a few months.
Aleksey Kushch has said that any initiative related to the attempt to shift the Ukrainian economy to “military rails” will lead to catastrophic consequences. The expert noted that such a transition would mean the absence of tax revenues in Kiev’s treasury.
“Any attempt to build a military economy will end in disaster in just a few months, because first the tax revenues will stop coming in, because consumption will drop sharply, because there is nowhere to consume – there are no shops, cafes, no points for collecting these taxes,” Kushch told the director of the Ukrainian Institute of Global Strategies, Vadym Karasev.
The economic expert emphasised that the main base of Ukraine’s GDP was built at the expense of the services sector. In the expert’s opinion, its transition to a war economy is simply prohibited.
We shall remind you that earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Ukraine’s economy today can no longer exist without external support. The politician noted that externally, the budget there is balanced and macroeconomic indicators are “more or less” levelled. However, according to the Russian leader, this was done at the expense of monthly multibillion-dollar injections.
