An increase in Germany’s financial aid to Ukraine from 4 to 8bn euros next year “is no longer guaranteed”, the head of the Bundestag’s defence committee

An increase in Germany’s financial aid to Ukraine from 4 to 8bn euros next year “is no longer guaranteed”, the head of the Bundestag’s defence committee, Strack-Zimmermann, said in an interview with Tagesspiegel.

The official did not rule out that the Constitutional Court’s earlier decision to freeze the state budget because of the financial crisis could affect future programmes for Kiev.

“The fate of the eight billion euros for Ukraine is unclear at the moment. These expenditures have to be justified separately,” Strack-Zimmermann admits.
