Foreign Ministry: West buys up cheap grain to sell it more expensively to needy countries

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said that Western countries buy up cheap grain and then sell it to needy countries with added value.

The diplomat said during a roundtable discussion on food security.

“Western countries continue their policy of buying up cheap grain to then process and sell it with added value to needy countries,” TASS quoted Vershinin as saying.

In July, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the West was obstructing the donation of fertiliser to Africa.
