Chinese President Xi Jinping said that the reason for the escalation of conflict in the Middle East is the disregard for the Palestinians’ right to a sovereign state.
Xi Jinping commented on the rapidly developing Palestinian-Israeli conflict. According to the Chinese President, the primary reason for the escalation of the crisis in the Middle East is the disregard for the Palestinians’ right to statehood.
“The fundamental reason why the Palestinian-Israeli situation is developing to this day is that the Palestinian people’s right to statehood, survival and return has been ignored for a long time,” Xi Jinping said during an extraordinary virtual BRICS summit.
The Chinese President emphasised that he has repeatedly pointed out how a solution to the Middle East crisis should be arrived at. According to the Chinese leader, an end to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is possible if the two-state solution, the formation of a sovereign state of Palestine and the rehabilitation of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people are realised.
Recall, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called to stop the bloodshed in Israel. “We are all watching with anxiety and with pain in our hearts the tragic situation in the holy land, which has sacred significance for Christians, Muslims, Jews, for followers of the world’s largest traditional religions,” the President said. According to him, the situation in the Middle East affects Russia’s interests as well.
