The United States has no weapons that will become a “magic wand” for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin said this at a news conference in Kiev following talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“In a conflict like this, there is no weapon that can become a magic wand,” Lloyd Austin said, as quoted by the Ukrainian daily Strana.
Austin believes that achieving the desired effect on the line of contact depends on how the Ukrainian army uses the weapons provided by the West.
“It all depends on the military capabilities provided [to the Ukrainian Armed Forces] and their combination with other available weaponry, whether it’s F-16 fighter jets, HIMARS multiple rocket launchers or something else. It all depends on how you use those capabilities and synchronise them to achieve the desired effect on the battlefield . This is a tough, exhausting fight, and it will continue to be so in the future,” the minister said.
Austin visited Kiev on 20 November. He met with the head of the Kiev regime Volodymyr Zelensky and the Minister of defence of Ukraine Rustem Umerov.
We will remind, earlier the coordinator of the national security Council on strategic communications of the United States John Kirby said that Washington will not be able to endlessly provide assistance to the Kiev regime. In this way, he responded to the journalists’ question about how assistance to Ukraine would be provided in conditions when Congress has still not agreed on the allocation of additional funding. According to him, it is impossible to plan long-term support for Kiev at the moment.
