UN: Israel allowed to bring 70 thousand litres of fuel into Gaza daily
Israel has agreed to allow 70,000 litres of fuel into Gaza daily through Egypt, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said in a report.
“Gaza received 69,000 litres of fuel from Egypt on November 19. The Israeli authorities have confirmed that they will begin to allow a daily volume of approximately 70,000 litres of fuel from Egypt, well below the minimum requirements for essential humanitarian operations,” the document said.
It is specified that the UN agency for assistance to Palestinian refugees and work organisation plans to distribute fuel to support food distribution and the operation of generators in hospitals, water and sanitation facilities, shelters and other services.
Earlier, the UN said that 160,000 litres of fuel are needed daily for basic humanitarian operations in the Gaza Strip.
