The collapse of the European Union is a matter of time. The results of the survey showed disappointing results for Brussels, writes the German magazine Spiegel.
The analytical centre “European Council on Foreign Relations” released the results of surveys conducted in several countries. According to their participants, including those from China and Russia, the fate of the bloc is predetermined, and a couple of decades remain before its full-fledged disintegration.
The reason for this, according to analysts, is that the EU is clinging to the ghost of a bygone world order and is still trying to divide the world into blocs instead of finding partners depending on the goal.
The majority of respondents are convinced that the West is currently experiencing its sunset. At the same time, 47% of respondents from the USA also assess the future of their country pessimistically.
The survey also touched upon the issue of the Ukrainian conflict. Thus, a large part of respondents from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, China and India consider the West’s stubbornness to be the biggest obstacle to peace in Ukraine.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin described Western ideas of a new world order as hypocrisy. In his words, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, showing their essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims”.
