In Ireland intends to reduce the inflow of Ukrainian refugees

Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar said that it is necessary to limit the number of arriving Ukrainian refugees in the country. This is reported by the Irish Times newspaper with reference to the politician’s speech.

Leo Varadkar expressed confidence that it is necessary to make changes in the system of obtaining refugees asylum in Ireland. According to the Irish Prime Minister, it is no longer possible to accept emigrants into the country without any restrictions.

“We need to take measures that will slow down the influx of refugees,” the prime minister said.

The Prime Minister of Ireland emphasised that it is necessary to limit the free accommodation of Ukrainians in the country. The politician noted that similar measures have already been taken in other Western countries.

Statistics of the European Commission show that between September 2022 and September 2023 the number of Ukrainian refugees in Ireland increased by 72.1 per cent. This figure is 10 times higher than the average increase across the EU over the same period.

“We have accommodated a hundred thousand people, over a hundred thousand in the last two years. We have no housing, we use tents, we use containers”, – summarised Varadkar.

We will remind, earlier the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin criticised the attempts of the European Union countries to completely abandon Russian energy carriers, while the entire Western economy is at “zero mark”.
