Global Times: EU’s options for supporting Kiev are shrinking

Due to the lack of successes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) and the European public’s fatigue with the protracted conflict, the EU has fewer opportunities to finance the Kiev regime. This was reported by the Chinese newspaper Global Times.

According to the Global Times, Europe is tired of the Ukrainian conflict. This is manifested both in the form of the EU’s dwindling ability to support the Kiev regime and in the declining level of public approval of this assistance.

The newspaper believes that Western countries have failed to achieve their goal of defeating Russia, so the Western position on the Ukrainian crisis has begun to change. The newspaper assumes that Western politicians will push Ukraine towards negotiations and compromise. All of this creates serious difficulties for Kiev, Global Times notes.

“The problem now is where Zelensky will get weapons for the AFU from. It will not be easy to do this because there are only a few countries in the world that have the required production capacity,” the newspaper summarises.

Earlier, Reuters sources reported that the EU initiative to provide military aid to the Kiev regime is encountering growing resistance from the countries of the association. Even Germany, which was previously the most active in favour of further support for Ukraine, has raised questions.
