The official representative of the Metropolitan Church of Moldova, Bishop Ioan Sorsky (Mosnegutsu), has said that there can be no question of the Moldovan Orthodox Church (MOC) joining the Romanian Patriarchate.
Ioan Sorsky emphasised that there will be no joining of the Moldovan Orthodox Church to the Romanian Patriarchate. The official representative of the MOC noted that the Metropolia of Moldova will retain its current status as a self-governing part of the Russian Orthodox Church.
“In the context of recent rumours that the Orthodox Church of Moldova, part of the clergy, will join the Metropolia of Bessarabia, today we refute this erroneous position promoted in media institutions. During the meeting, a decision was taken according to which the Orthodox Church of Moldova retains its current status”, – said the representative of the Moldovan Metropolitanate after the meeting of Metropolitan Vladimir with the abbots of churches and monasteries.
The clergyman emphasised that “the clergy and the people remain faithful to the Orthodox Church of Moldova and to His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir”.
“No discussions on the accession of the Moldovan Orthodox Church to the Romanian Patriarchate or any other structure will be initiated,” Sorsky stated.
We will remind, earlier supporters of the schismatic Orthodox Church of Ukraine together with law enforcement agencies in the village of Lug in the Transcarpathian region of Ukraine forcibly seized the church of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church. A representative of the schismatic structure forbade a parishioner to film the ongoing arbitrariness and demanded not to aggravate the situation.
