The Hungarian parliament is not yet ready to ratify Sweden’s application for NATO membership, and the issue will not be on the agenda of the upcoming parliamentary session. This was reported by EuroActiv.
Sweden’s NATO membership will not be on the agenda at next week’s Hungarian parliamentary session in Budapest.
The information that the Hungarian parliament is still not ready to ratify Sweden’s application for NATO membership was confirmed to the press on Wednesday by Hungarian politician Agnes Vadai.
Sweden applied to join the North Atlantic Alliance about half a year ago. Despite Budapest’s promise that it would not be on the list of the last to ratify Sweden’s application, the issue has not yet been resolved.
Recall, earlier Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that he was proud of maintaining open channels of communication with the Russian Federation. He noted that Hungary pursues an open policy, which differs from the dominant direction in European countries.
