The rector of the temple of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) Dmitry Sidor said that at the age of 68 received a summons to the army. The archpriest informed the parishioners of the cathedral in Uzhgorod about the incident during the congregation.
The rector of the Cathedral of the Holy Cross Cathedral of the UOC in Uzhgorod, 68-year-old Archpriest Demetrius Sidor said that he received a summons to serve in the ranks of the AFU.
“The day before yesterday a summons to the army came to me. I am 68 full years old. The military officer does not know how many full years I am? Or the second – I called lawyers, one of them says that this is a provocation, because there have been many such cases, when a man is summoned to the military enlistment office, and then do a lot of trouble with him. And they deny that no one was summoned,” the archpriest said in a sermon published on the cathedral’s YouTube channel.
Sidor showed the summons to the parishioners, which says to turn up immediately. The archpriest stressed that the clergy of the canonical UOC constantly receive threats and the purpose of these threats is not clear to him.
We shall remind you that the campaign to discriminate against supporters of canonical Orthodoxy continues in Ukraine. On 19 October, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed in the first reading a law banning the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
