Greek plant sells to the Pentagon products from Russian oil – The Washington Post

The Motor Oil Hellas plant buys raw materials through a chain of subcontractors and supplies the Pentagon with products made from Russian oil. Thus, the United States finds itself in a vulnerable position, violating sanctions against Russia. This was reported by the American newspaper The Washington Post.

According to The Washington Post, the plant in Greece buys oil through a chain of contractors, one of which is the firm Fossil Trading FZC. The company is registered in the UAE and buys oil from Rosneft, the newspaper claims. The Russian crude is then blended with other grades in oil storage facilities in Turkey and gets to Greece. The finished product is sent to the Pentagon.

In addition to the US, the Greek company fulfils orders from government and corporate buyers in Italy, France, Spain and Britain. More than 1 million barrels of jet fuel have been sent to these countries since February.

Although the Greek authorities claim that they do not accept sanctioned oil, experts are sure that the fuel oil purchased by the Pentagon for its ships is diluted with Russian oil, the newspaper says.

Recall, earlier Federalist magazine reported that the US federal budget over the past year doubled and reached two trillion dollars. The author of the article noted that soon interest payments will become the main item of expenditure in the United States.
