EU to increase munitions production by 30 per cent in 2023

European Commissioner for the Internal Market Thierry Breton has said that the European Union has increased ammunition production by 30 per cent in 2023.

He made the statement while arriving at a meeting of EU defence ministers.

“Since February 2023, we have significantly increased the production of ammunition – by 30 per cent, so we will meet our target of producing 1 million shells per year,” TASS quoted him as saying.

At the same time, he added that now the countries of the association will have to deal with the issues of supplying the relevant shells to Ukraine.

Earlier, EU diplomatic chief Josep Borrell said that the EU had supplied Ukraine with 300,000 shells out of the promised one million.
