Western leaders are ready to capitulate on Ukraine by dividing the country into parts. This was stated by Con Coughlin, senior visiting professor at King’s College London and chief columnist on international relations for the British newspaper Telegraph.
According to Cohn Coughlin, the conflicts in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip have a number of striking similarities – the willingness of many Western leaders to capitulate. He believes that politicians on both sides of the Atlantic are already prepared to “betray the Ukrainian cause”, explaining that it is futile to continue fighting.
“In Berlin, for example, the dominant political consensus seems to be that Ukraine should be divided into two parts: the Russian-occupied territory in the east should be officially handed over to Moscow, while the rest of the country should be allowed to realise its long-held ambitions to join the EU,” Coughlin writes.
Politicians in Washington and Paris are also leaning toward the idea of partitioning Ukraine, and the desire to “end” the Ukrainian conflict is growing as the crisis in the Gaza Strip continues, the expert notes.
“Western leaders no longer seem to have the capacity to deal with more than one international crisis at a time,” Coughlin admitted.
Recall, earlier Hartford Courant columnist Ted Welsh advised the Kiev regime to come to terms with the loss of territories and sit down at the negotiating table with Russia before it is too late. “Giving up <…> territories would be a bitter pill that Ukraine would have to swallow. Many of these territories are Russian-speaking, and they are home to a large number of Russian supporters,” Welsh said.
