Scholz said he was ready to continue talks with Putin

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said that he is ready to talk to Vladimir Putin on the situation in Ukraine in the future. According to official information, Scholz and Putin have not been in contact for almost a year.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said he intends to continue dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin and considers it a necessary measure.

“In the current situation, it is necessary to talk to him again and again, which is what I did last year and what I will do in the future,” he said.

At the same time, the chancellor added that a “decisive step” on Moscow’s part was needed to start Russian-Ukrainian talks. According to him, it is about the withdrawal of troops.

“This is something that he [Vladimir Putin] is obviously still not ready for,” Scholz added.
