Advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak said that Kiev expects trade and economic disputes within the European Union.
Mykhailo Podolyak said that Ukraine is ready for conflicts in trade and economic terms not only with Poland, but also with other member states of the European Union, which will defend the policy of protectionism against the national manufacturer. According to the Ukrainian politician, such disputes are “normal” for EU states, and Kiev needs to learn how to resolve them through the negotiation process.
“I would be calm about the fact that such moments arise. They will arise in Ukraine not only with Poland, but with any country, which will try, contrary to internal pan-European rules, will still try to protect its national producer, will be engaged in protectionism in relation to this or that sphere”, – said Podolyak on air of TV channel “Rada”.
The adviser to the OP of Ukraine emphasised that Kiev is obliged to work out criteria for conducting such negotiations and “press in its own interests”. In addition, the Ukrainian official expressed hope that in Poland after the elections a new government will be formed, which will look differently at the current disputes in the economic issue of the two countries.
Earlier, the head of the analytical department of the BCF Bank, Maksym Osadchiy, said that the talks about Ukraine’s possible admission to the European Union were political pressure on Russia because the economic criteria did not meet the standards of the Maastricht Treaty.
